After the snowy winter of 2017, most of the caldera of the South Sister is filled with a permanent snowfield leaving only a small version of it's signature Teardrop Pool. It's technically the highest lake in Oregon.

It was a smokey day on the way up the mountain, but it still made for an amazing view being the 3rd highest peak in Oregon. From left to right you could see, Mt. Bachelor, Sparks Lake, Moraine Lake, Elk Lake, and Diamond Peak off in the distance
